Port Blair, June 28: The valedictory function of the Summer Hobby Classes on Paper Mache and Painting organized by the Department of Art and Culture was held at Andaman Club here this evening. The Secretary (Art and Culture/IP&T), Shri Vishwendra was the chief guest on the occasion. The Special Secretary (Art and Culture/IP&T), Ms Nandini Maharaj was the guest of honor.

Port Blair, June 28: To mark the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a rally was organized from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, South Andaman to Tiranga Park via National Memorial Cellular Jail on June 26. The rally was flagged off by the Superintendent of Police (CID), Shri Rajeev Ranjan, IPS.

A large number of Cadets/Officials NCC Army and Navel Wings, staff of IRCA, SA, and NAPDDR, participated in the rally, holding banners and placards illustrating the ill effect of substance abuse.

It is brought to the notice of the general public & electricity consumers that power supply will remain suspended in the following area on 29.06.2024 from 0800 hrs. to 1400 hrs. in connection with urgent breakdown maintenance at Ring Main Unit (RMU) near RBV School, VIP Road.

Port Blair, June 28: All the eligible PDS beneficiaries of the UT of A&N Islands have been informed that the PDS food grains for Ration Card holders shall be distributed in advance for 2 months for July, 2024 & August, 2024 in one go in the entire UT in the month of July, 2024. All the Ration Card holders have been informed that they can lift the food grains as per their entitlement for 2 months in one go between 1st July, 2024 to 31st August, 2024. Those Ration Card holders who are not able to lift the ration items in the month of July, 2024 can also lift their food grains in the month of August, 2024.

Baratang, June 27: On 24/06/2024, Shri Krishna Baghwar, Private Driver, R/o South Creek, Baratang, lodged a missing report at PS Baratang regarding his old aged mother who is mentally unstable. He reported that she had left their house on 23/06/2024 in morning hours and had not returned. Despite his exhaustive efforts to locate her, she remained missing.

Upon receiving the complaint, a missing report was promptly registered, and a missing signal was flashed. A dedicated Police team from PS Baratang immediately initiated a jungle search operation, enlisting the assistance of staff from the Forest and APWD Departments, as well as local villagers.
