Port Blair, June 19: In a ceremony today, the INTACH Andaman & Nicobar Chapter with support from Directorate of Social Welfare gave away certificates to 45 children from 5 Child Care Institutions under the care of the Directorate.
The ceremony was a culmination of a 30 days long workshop on Sculpting and Clay Modelling conducted by INTACH in its effort to conserve heritage and traditional craftsmanship. The resource person for the workshop was Shri. Promotho Mazumder, a renowned Sculptor of the islands who was recently felicitated at New Delhi with the Shri. Martand Singh Memorial Award.

Port Blair, June 19: The Department of Social Welfare is committed to the welfare of the venerable sections of society and it ensured that all the beneficiaries are being paid Social Security Pension on monthly basis through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
The Department is also the State Nodal Agency of the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands for implementation of National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) of Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India for disbursement of Pension to the beneficiaries, viz-a-viz, Old Age Pension, Widow Pension and Disability Pension.

Port Blair, June 19: Together with the rest of the world, the 10th edition of International Day of Yoga (IDY) will be observed in A&N Islands too on June 21, 2024. The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Yoga for Self and Society’.
As part of the Yoga Day celebration, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, in his letter addressed to all Gram Pradhans, has urged them to make holistic health a people-led movement by spreading more awareness about Yoga and Millet.
