Gives Credit to His Mentor Ms. Sampa Ray for the Milestone Achieved

Port Blair, June 12: Akash Biswas, a talented young artist from Andaman & Nicobar Islands has been selected for National Award for his art works on Andaman by the prestigious Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi. The award will be conferred to Akash soon, very likely by the Hon’ble President of India.   

Akash hails from the remote Diglipur in the North of Andaman and had completed his senior secondary from GSSS Diglipur. He gives the credit to his teacher and mentor Ms Sampa Ray, who still remains as his source of inspiration and encouragement.

Port Blair, June 12: The Global Academy of Modern Fitness recently held a press conference to raise awareness about fitness through the use of laughter yoga, martial arts, aerobic and meditation. The event aimed to cater to individuals of all age groups within the general public. Led by Founder and Grand Master Shihan MS Murugan and his team, the press conference highlighted the significance of fitness demonstration classes that will be conducted across all municipal wards and Panchayat areas.

Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU A & N State Committee along with a delegation of Andaman & Nicobar Anganwadi Workers & Helpers’ Union met the Director of Social Welfare, A & N Islands today (12.06.2023) and discussed with him various demands concerning the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers.   He brought to the notice of the Director of Social Welfare that only a paltry amount of Rs. 9000 per month is given to the Anganwadi Workers and Rs. 6000 per month to Anganwadi Helpers as honorarium and demanded its substantial enhancement considering the high cost of living prevailing in the islands.

Port Blair, June 12: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) is likely to occur at one or two places over A&N Islands on June 13. Due to strong Southwest monsoon current, wind speed is also likely to prevail between 40-50 kmph over Andaman Sea. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the Sea till June 14.
