Port Blair, Oct. 12: The District Child Protection Unit, South Andaman conducted an awareness program on POCSO Act as well as good & bad touch at Nirmala Senior Secondary School, Prem Nagar today. Students of classes 6th to 8th participated in the programme. Inspector Rashida from ‘Crime Against Women Cell’ (Deptt. of Police) and Protection Officer NIC from District Child Protection Unit, South Andaman as resource persons highlighted about various offences that are covered under POCSO Act and its Provisions.

Port Blair, Oct. 12: A two-day National Symposium on “Harmonizing Land Use for Emerging Challenges and Opportunities in the Island and Coastal Region” jointly organized by the Andaman Science Association (ASA), ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI), Port Blair and Bharatiya Kisan Sangh was inaugurated today at Dr. T. R. Dutta Conference Hall, Garacharma Research Complex of ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.

Port Blair, Oct. 12: The Secretary (Health), A&N Administration, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, as the chief guest of the programme inaugurated the three-days Regional Training-cum -Review Workshop on Supply Chain Management System of Commodities of National AIDS Control Programme 2022 today. Dr. Munni Singhania, Director of Health Services was the guest of honour. Project Directors, Asst. Project Directors and Dy. Directors representing various States of Southern Zone also graced the occasion. 45 participants from NACO and SACS are attending the workshop. The participants are representatives of Supply Chain Management Project of State AIDS Control Societies from Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The workshop is being conducted in the conference hall of Hotel Lemon Tree, Port Blair.

Port Blair, Oct. 12: The North Andaman Zonal Conference of CITU was held at Diglipur on 9th October, 2022. Shri Vijoo Krishnan, All India Joint Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha inaugurated the Conference. In his inaugural address, Shri Vijoo Krishnan briefly explained the history of trade union movement in the world. Referring to the situation in the country, he said that the wrong economic policies followed by the successive governments resulted in the job loss in large number in the country. 

Port Blair, Oct. 12: The MPL 48th National Senior Women Chess Championship–2022 will be organized by All India Chess Federation, supported by Sports Authority of India, Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs, Govt. of India from November 8 to 18, 2022 at Sanjay Ghodawat University Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Each Affiliated State Association is entitled to send four entries for the Championship.
