Port Blair, July 4: A series of earthquakes have been reported in the Andaman Islands since morning hours today. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, an earthquake of MW 4.6 was reported in the Andaman Islands at 1105 Hrs. This was followed by MW 4.7 at 1355 Hrs, MW 4.8 at 1406 Hrs, MW 5.6 at 1437 Hrs, MW 4.7 at 1502 Hrs, MW 4.9 at 1525 Hrs, MW 5.0 at 1718 Hrs, MW 4.6 at 1750 Hrs and MW 4.9 at 2301 Hrs.

Port Blair, July 4: Consequent upon the rise in the number of positive cases of COVID-19 and evolving scenario in mainland as well in these Islands, the District Magistrate, South Andaman in an Order No. 606 today directed that all persons should maintain COVID appropriate behaviour at public places and shall henceforth compulsorily wear face mask/covers in South Andaman District with immediate effect from 05.07.2022 till further orders as a measure to contain the further spread of virus.

Port Blair, July 4: The Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs, A&N Administration has organized the 4th Project Approval Committee (PAC) meeting held on 04th July 2022 at 10:30 am under the Chairmanship of Shri. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Secretary (RD) for approval of revised trades and targets to the Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and Sagarmala Convergence Project and also to review the progress made under implementation of scheme in this UT.

Port Blair, July 4: A meeting of women of Wimberlygunj area was held at Wimberlygunj on 29th June 2022 in which a Village Committee of the All India Democratic Women’s Association was formed.  Addressing the meeting, Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M), Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee explained in brief the difficulties being faced by women in these Islands due to the wrong policies of the central government and its Administration in the islands.
