Diglipur, March 15: The North & Middle Andaman District Police has launched a groundbreaking program called “Mahila Manch”, with the goal of empowering women living in the remote villages of the district. This innovative initiative seeks to bring together women from different villages in the district, all under one roof known as "Mahila Manch".

Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP(D)N&MA, engaged in a thought-provoking discussion with women of the village from Kishori Nagar area, focusing on pressing issues such as crimes against women and domestic violence affecting women and children. She enlightened them on legal provisions that can be utilized to combat these issues and urged them not to suffer in silence any longer. She encouraged the women to stand up with courage so that the future of young girls and the nation is not jeopardized.

The pilot to scale intervention aims to create a sustainable solid waste management system in the islands

Wandoor, March 15: Aligned with the Government’s vision of scaling the island region’s blue economy efforts via investments in infrastructure, research and policy frameworks - the PwC India Foundation and Dakshin Foundation are collaborating on a pilot to scale intervention focusing on creating a sustainable solid waste management system in the Andamans. The initiative aims to address rising concerns of improper waste management which pose a significant threat to blue economies by endangering marine ecosystems and coastal areas.
