Port Blair, Jan 11: As a part of Community Policing initiative, the Police Training School, Prothrapur in collaboration with ANIIMS, A&N Islands organized an Eye and ENT Health Check-up Camp at Prothrapur Police Quarter Complex on 10/01/2021 from 1000 hrs to 1300 hrs to create awareness & examination of Eye and Ear, Nose & Throat. Dr. Gurumani, Professor and Head, ENT, ANIIMS, Dr. Archan Das, Junior Resident, Ophthalmology, ANIIMS, along with assisting staff Mr. S.S. Venkateshwar, Optometrist, Mr. Rajiv Kumar Singh, Optometrist, Mrs. Hemawathi, Ophthalmology Support Staff, provided their services during the camp and examined 52 Patients of all age groups.

Port Blair, Jan 11: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has been accorded A++ grade by NAAC. IGNOU is the first higher educational institute in the open distance learning (ODL) mode to be accredited by NAAC. This comes as a New Year gift to the largest university in the world. Thus, IGNOU has become one among the very few educational institutions accorded with the A++ grade. Getting an A++ grade at the first accreditation cycle is a rare achievement for any educational institute in India and IGNOU through its consistent and affirmative efforts has made it possible.

Port Blair, Jan 10: A large number of dead turtles have been found washed away in the shores of North Andaman. It was today afternoon that the locals found atleast found dozens of dead turtles on Kalipur Beach and Lamiya Bay beach. The matter was immediately informed to the Forest Department, which in turn sought the assistance of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science.

INTACH Launches “My little book on Andaman & Nicobar Islands”

Port Blair, Jan 10: The INTACH Andaman and Nicobar Chapter in association with Department of Art and Culture launched a book for children on the heritage of our islands. The inauguration was held at the Andaman Club, a historic building which is depicted in the book too.
