Port Blair, March 22: The Andaman & Nicobar Islands are prone to geological disasters and located in one of the most seismically active parts (Zone –V) of the world and several great earthquakes have occurred in the past. The devastating earthquake that occurred on December 26, 2004 caused horizontal and vertical movement of land mass in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

During the meeting, the public representatives highlighted their grievances pertaining to Health, Education, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Revenue, Civil Aviation, Electricity, Shipping, Road, Water, Rural Development etc. The Chief Secretary gave a patient hearing to the grievances and allowed all the PRI members present in the hall to put forth their grievances one by one.
