Port Blair, May 7: A webinar on ‘Approaches to Urban Architecture, Engineering & Visualizing Development’ was organized by the Andaman Public Works Department in the Seminar hall of DBRAIT here today. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary congratulated APWD for conducting the workshop which is very relevant for A&N Islands by roping in renowned experts from mainland who have vast experience in the subject. The Chief Secretary stated that street designing is very important and all the factors have to be incorporated while designing, so that it benefits the society at large.

Port Blair, May 7: A four-week old infant was referred by a local private Pediatrician with complaints of recurrent vomiting after every breast feeding since 2 weeks. The baby was admitted in the Department of Surgery, G.B. Pant Hospital/ ANIIMS and was investigated with blood and ultrasound abdomen which showed abnormal thickening of the gastric outlet and no passage of milk into the rest of the intestine and stasis of intake milk in the stomach and the diagnosis of Idiopathic Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis was made.

Port Blair, May 7: Heavy rain (07-11 cm) & thunderstorm with lightning, gusty wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) is likely to occur at one or two places over Nicobar Islands on May 8.  Thundersquall (speed reaching 60-70 kmph) is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and heavy to very heavy rain (07-20 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Nicobar Islands. Heavy rain (07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman Islands on May 9.

Port Blair, May 7: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary to deploy at least three vehicle ferry vessels at Middle Strait to minimize waiting time and provide some relief to ATR (NH4) passengers.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, the Member of Parliament said that ATR (NH4) commuters have to wait for two to three hours at Middle Strait, waiting for their turn to reach Baratang via Vehicle Ferry Vessels.

Port Blair, May 7: 162nd Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated in Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair. On this occasion a weeklong programme- “Tagore Jayanti Utsav”, was conducted by the College to honour the Life and Legacy of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. During this weeklong programme from 3rd May to 7th May various Inter-College Competitions were organised under various themes to showcase the cultural and artistic talents of students of various higher education institutions.
