Rangat, Sept. 20: The International Beach Cleanup Day- Swachh Sagar Surakshit Sagar 2026 Campaign was observed today at Raman Bagicha, Middle Andaman, Rangat, in pursuance to the communication received from MoEFCC being the pilot Blue Flag Beach of Andaman Nicobar Islands. The programme was organized by the Divisional Forest Officer, Middle Andaman in collaboration with PRIs, educational institutions, and the local community.
During the drive, nearly 97 kgs wastes were collected, including plastic bottles and hard plastics, glass bottles and tin can and plastic wrappers and single use plastic and other plastics, fishing nets, ropes and footwears. Then the segregated wastes were handed over to Gram Panchayat Nimbutala for further disposal. During this programme saplings were also planted by Block Development Officer, Zilla Parishad Members, PRIs and Divisional Forest Officer under the programme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”.
