Mayabunder, Sept. 29: As part of the 6th Anniversary of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), North & Middle Andaman, in collaboration with Child Helpline, N&M Andaman, and higher educational institutions, conducted pre-event awareness programmes at Mahatma Gandhi Government College and Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Bakultala.
The programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation of students in various awareness activities and competitions. Appreciation prizes were distributed to outstanding participants by the Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, North & Middle Andaman, PRI representatives, administrative officials and other resource persons.
The Additional District Magistrate, North & Middle Andaman, graced both programmes as the chief guest and urged students to stay away from substance abuse and remain focused on their goals. He encouraged them to follow the campaign message, ‘Nashe Ko Naa, Sapne Ko Haa’ (Choose your dreams, not drugs).
The Project Coordinator, IRCA, sensitized the students about the harmful effects of narcotic substances and informed them about the MANAS Helpline – 1933, providing counselling and support related to drug use and addiction.
