Island Coconut Festival 2025 Concludes on a Joyful Note at ITF Ground

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 10: The Island Coconut Festival–2025 concluded on a vibrant and joyful note today at the ITF Ground, bringing an end to the two-days of lively celebrations, cultural showcases, and competitions. The festival, organized by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with allied Departments and Associations, culminated with an impressive prize distribution ceremony that drew enthusiastic participation from the public.

The Director (IP&T), Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest and presented prizes to the winners of the various competitions held during the event. In his address, the Director highlighted that coconut holds a special place in the cultural and economic life of the islanders, symbolizing the deep connection between the people and their environment. He remarked that the festival reflects the Islands’ rich traditions and community spirit, while also promoting local craftsmanship, cuisine, and culture. The Director further assured that the Department will continue to organize such initiatives to preserve local traditions and enhance tourism prospects across the Islands.

Meanwhile, as part of the festival, the Department of Art & Culture organised cultural progamme much to the delight of the gathering present at the venue in good numbers. The artistes of KRG Kalai Kaveri & MJ Music Academy presented semi-classical/folk /fusion dance which captivated the audience gathered at the venue, abuzz with activities. To add colour to the festivity, the artistes of the Sitesh Live Orchestra & Soul Music Association presented musical programme for the entertainment of visitors at the venue.

The Coconut Festival not only highlighted its many uses but also brought the community together in a spirited celebration of tradition and innovation. The festival wrapped up amidst a festive atmosphere filled with energy and enthusiasm. Visitors enjoyed browsing a variety of stalls offering local products, crafts and coconut-based delicacies. Children also joined in the fun, embracing the cheerful spirit of the event. Cash prizes were given to the winners of various competitions by Tourism Department.
