Island Seafood Festival – 2026 to be Organised on Jan 15 & 16

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan, 9: The Department of Fisheries, in association with the IP&T Department, A&N Administration, and with financial support from the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad, is organising the “Island Seafood Festival – 2026” on Jan. 15 & 16  at the Marina Park stretch road, Sri Vijaya Puram, with a special focus on Tuna Cluster Development in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The two-day festival is envisioned as a vibrant celebration of the islands’ rich marine wealth and fisheries-based livelihoods. It aims to bring together fishers, entrepreneurs, scientists, chefs, tourists, and the general public on a common platform to experience the journey of seafood “from ocean to plate.” The theme for 2026 focuses on “Safe, Wholesome & Sustainable Seafood for All”

The festival will feature an exciting line-up of activities including cultural programmes, live seafood cooking demonstrations, public competitions, interactive sessions, traditional fish boat racing, and the prestigious Mr.& Ms. Chef Competition, where the top three winners will be felicitated on the closing day. These events are designed to highlight the culinary excellence, traditional knowledge, and sustainable fishing practices of the islands.

During the festival, stalls will be allotted to interested Fisheries Associations, /Entrepreneurs/ Fish Co-operatives/ Aquarium Shops/ Hotels & Restaurants, Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs), NGOs etc  to showcase various fisheries-related activities, products/ Services including live, fresh, chilled and frozen fish, value-added fish products, seafood cuisines, aquariums, fish feed, essential fisheries requisites, and sport fishing services etc. Details regarding stall allotment will be communicated to selected applicants in due course.
