
Rangat, Dec. 9: The Rangat Zonal Conference of the CITU was held at the Zilla Parishad Hall, Rangat in the afternoon of 7 December 2025. Inaugurating the Zonal Conference, D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU, Andaman & Nicobar State Committee criticized the Modi government for not fulfilling any of the promises made by the ruling party during the election in 2014. He said that unemployment is increasing in the country due to anti-people policies followed by the BJP-led government at the centre. Price rise has become a nightmare for the poorer sections of the society as the government has completely failed to arrest the prices rise of even essential food items. Referring to the recently notified four Labour Codes, CITU Vice President said that labour laws are amended or repealed to favour Modi’s friends in the corporate sector.
Addressing the Zonal Conference, Projit Kumar Sarkar, President of CITU Rangat Zonal Committee came down heavily on the central government for pursuing anti-working class policies in the country. He underlined the need to strengthen the CITU and trade union movement in the islands.
C. Karuppaiah, Secretary presented a brief report about CITU’s activities in the Rangat area. A large number of workers representing various unions affiliated to CITU functioning at Rangat area participated in the Conference. PK Khalid, Secretary, CITU State Committee was also present in the Conference.
