
Diglipur, Nov. 10: A Legal Awareness Programme was organized yesterday by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), N&M Andaman, in collaboration with the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), ICDS Project, Diglipur, at the GPOA Hall, Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur. The programme was held under the guidance of Shri Sushant Padha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman.
The event was graced by Shri Subhajit Basu, Hon’ble Additional District & Sessions Judge, N&M Andaman, Mayabunder, as the chief guest highlighted the legal rights of citizens and underscored the significance of being aware of laws that protect individual and community rights. Dr. Shipra Mistry, GDMO (Ayurveda), CHC Diglipur, as the guest of honour emphasized the role of parents in ensuring a secure and nurturing environment for children, calling for strong parental guidance and involvement in their upbringing.
Smti Indira Devi, CDPO Diglipur, elaborated on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, stressing the importance of protecting, educating, and empowering the girl child. Shri Prakash Howlader, DEO Mayabunder, spoke on the importance of education, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, and the increasing threat of cybercrime, urging students to use digital platforms responsibly and stay vigilant.
