Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 25: The Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, will undertake a two-day visit to Shaheed Dweep on Sept. 26 and 27, 2026, during which, he will participate in the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2026’ campaign and attend the World Tourism Day 2026 programme.
The visit reflects the Administration’s commitment towards cleanliness, sustainable tourism and community-driven development. During the visit, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor will lead cleanliness drives at two prominent tourist destinations of Shaheed Dweep viz. Bharatpur Beach and Laxmanpur Sunset Beach. Thereafter, he will inspect the Solid Waste Management Cluster and review the arrangements for waste segregation and disposal.
The Hon’ble Lt. Governor will also visit the Police Station at Shaheed Dweep and participate in the cleanliness drive. He will further visit the Primary Health Centre (PHC), where he will participate in a cleanliness drive within the PHC premises, take stock of public amenities and interact with doctors and healthcare personnel to understand the challenges being faced and the requirements of the facility.
Thereafter, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor will interact with representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, local public representatives and the general public on issues relating to cleanliness, tourism, sanitation management and other developmental activities.
The Hon’ble Lt. Governor will also visit PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School, Neil Kendra, where he will lead a cleanliness drive in the school premises. He will also lead a cleanliness drive at the Shaheed Dweep Jetty.
Upon completion of the visit, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor will stay overnight at Shaheed Dweep on Sept. 27 and return to Lok Niwas the following day.
