Directs NHIDCL to Expedite and Complete the Work within Stipulated Timeline
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 29: In continuation of the directions given by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Dr. Dinesh Sharma Ji, for improvement of deteriorated roads and construction of new roads in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Public Works Department (PWD) today made a presentation on the proposed road construction projects during a meeting held at Lok Niwas.
The Hon’ble Lt. Governor expressed dissatisfaction over the slow progress of work on National Highway-4 (NH-4) and directed the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to expedite the project and complete the work within the stipulated timeline. He also directed that the difficulties faced by the general public due to the poor condition of roads and delays in execution of works be addressed promptly.
The concerned Department was further directed to ensure regular monitoring of the project and lay special emphasis on completion of the works within the prescribed timeframe, while adhering to transparent tendering procedures and the required quality standards. Strict directions were issued to ensure timely execution and completion of the construction works.
The review meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (PWD), Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Urban Development), Executive Director (NHIDCL), General Manager (NHIDCL), Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman), Secretary to the Lt. Governor, Chief Engineer (APWD) and other officers.
