Sri Vijaya Puram, May 13: The Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands is pleased to re-constitute the ‘Regional Records Survey Committee’ including Sub Committees in the name of ‘District Records Survey Committee’ for three Districts viz. South Andaman District, Middle & North Andaman District and Nicobar District. The Sub- Committees will be headed by the Concerned District Deputy Commissioners of the A&N Administration. The mandate of the Sub – Committee is to undertake the task of Survey and listing of Records/documents, photographs, manuscripts etc. pertaining to the history of A&N Islands.
The Regional Records Survey Committee meeting was held today in the Mini Conference Hall of Secretariat under the Chairmanship of Secretary (Archives). In the said meeting, all the members have participated including three Sub Committees and two representatives from National Archives of India, New Delhi and have given their valuable suggestions and guidance.
The Secretary (Archives), Ms. Smitha. R, IAS, who is also the Head of Archives has appealed to the individuals/private Institutions with whom such information are available to contact the A&N Archives personally or over phone 230695 or to the Deputy Commissioners of the concerned district to enable the A&N Administration to keep original/copies of such records/documents in A&N Archives, Secretariat for observation, future reference and benefit for the Research Scholars /students and others in general. The cost involved in taking photocopies etc., if any will be borne by the A&N Administration.
Due acknowledgement will also be given by the ‘RRSC’ to all such persons/institution etc., who comes forward to donate/share their Records/documents with A&N Archives.
