Mass Pledge Ceremony Organised Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 13: The Department of Social Welfare organized a Mass Pledge Ceremony at the Auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education, Sri Vijaya Puram, on 13th August 2025, as part of the 5th Anniversary of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA). The event commenced at 10:50 AM with the arrival of participants, followed by the arrival of Dr. Jatinder Sohal, Director (Social Welfare), Sh. Vikram Singh, Director (Education) and Special Guest Shri Sujit Thankachen, Chairperson Child Welfare Committee. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests marked the formal inauguration of the programme. As a gesture of respect and appreciation, the dignitaries were honoured with shawls by the Department.

Shri A.K. Biswas, Nodal Officer (Prohibition), welcomed the gathering & highlighted the importance of the event & necessity of drug free Andaman & Nicobar Islands. After which Director Social Welfare administered the pledge to all participants against drug abuse, reaffirming their commitment to building a drug-free society. Motivational addresses were delivered by Prajapathi Brahmakumari and Shri Shekar Rao, Youth Icon of A&N Islands, inspiring the audience towards positive lifestyle choices and active participation in community awareness initiatives.

As part of the programme, a Signature Board was placed at the venue, where participants penned their commitment against drug abuse. A Selfie Board, and Demo Car was also set up, allowing participants to capture the moment and further spread the message of the campaign through social media. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Miss Reeta Devi, Supt (OH), expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and supporters. More than 350 participants, including students, Staffs from TGCE, Staffs from Directorate of Social Welfare, Anganwadi workers and General Public enthusiastically participated, making the programme a grand success. The Department of Social Welfare extends heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the success of this important initiative.
