Meeting of Tourism Stakeholders Organised to Explore Avenues for Promoting Locally Produced SHG Products

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 13: A meeting with representatives of Hoteliers Associations, Cab Associations, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) was arranged today in the Conference Hall of the Directorate of RD and PRIs, Marine Hill.

The meeting aimed to explore avenues for promoting locally produced SHG products through stronger collaboration with stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism sectors. Representatives from tourism bodies, hotel associations, cab operators, and SHG members actively participated. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on fostering collaboration between SHGs and hotels/cab operators for the supply and promotion of local products. Participants emphasized the growing demand for locally produced items in the hospitality and tourism sectors and highlighted the need to align SHG production with market requirements.

Sales outlets and display counters for SHG products at hotels and key tourist locations is been planned and the stakeholders expressed willingness to support such initiatives to enhance the visibility and accessibility of local products to tourists.

The meeting concluded with a consensus on strengthening partnerships between SHGs and the tourism sector, with a focus on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and promoting locally made products across the Islands.
