Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 5: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has drawn the attention of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration towards the serious traffic congestion being faced at the Harbour Area and Radhanagar Beach in Swaraj Dweep, particularly during the peak tourist season.
During his visit to Swaraj Dweep on 26–27 December 2025, the Hon’ble MP personally observed heavy traffic congestion at the Harbour area, causing considerable inconvenience to visiting tourists as well as local commuters. He noted that despite the deployment of traffic police, congestion remains acute due to the high volume of vehicles and unregulated parking.
A similar situation was also witnessed at Radhanagar Beach, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Islands, where the influx of tourists and vehicles frequently leads to traffic snarls. The Hon’ble MP emphasized that the absence of proper and designated parking facilities at both locations is the primary cause of the problem.
Highlighting the importance of Swaraj Dweep as a major tourism hub of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray urged the Administration to take immediate corrective measures. He has requested the creation of designated parking areas at the Harbour Area and Radhanagar Beach to ensure smooth vehicular movement, ease congestion, and provide a hassle-free experience for tourists and residents alike.
The Hon’ble MP has further requested that the matter be examined on priority and necessary directions be issued for early implementation in the larger interest of tourism development and public convenience.
