Member of Parliament Suggests Introduction of Online Land Revenue Receipt Generation System

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 30: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, has taken up an important public grievance with the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration regarding the difficulties faced by citizens of South Andaman in obtaining land revenue receipts.

It has been highlighted that while an online system for generation of land revenue receipts is already functional in North and Middle Andaman districts, the same facility is yet to be implemented in South Andaman, where receipts are still being issued manually. Due to errors in printing of receipt books and subsequent delays in reprinting, the issuance of receipts has been severely affected, causing significant inconvenience to the public.

A land revenue receipt is an essential document required for various official purposes such as sale permission, registration of sale deeds, demarcation, mutation and other legal matters. The non-availability of such receipts is creating unnecessary hardship for citizens and hindering access to basic services.

In view of this, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray has urged the Administration to immediately extend the existing online receipt generation system to South Andaman district as an interim solution.

He has further requested the development of a comprehensive IT-enabled online payment module for land revenue and allied dues, enabling citizens to make payments from their homes and receive system-generated receipts in a transparent, efficient and hassle-free manner.
