Mayabunder, Sept. 28: Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder, North & Middle Andaman, observed National Service Scheme (NSS) Day recently with a series of activities aimed at promoting volunteerism, social responsibility and community service. A special awareness programme was also organised to mark the 6th Anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, focusing on creating awareness among students and college staff about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of a drug-free society.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Shri S. Krishna Chaitanya, Additional District Magistrate, North & Middle Andaman spoke extensively on the adverse effects of substance abuse, its impact on the lives of young people and the crucial role of youth in building a drug-free society. Following his address, he administered the “Nasha Mukt Bharat” pledge to the students and faculty members.
Dr. R. V. R. Murthy, Principal, MG Government College, Mayabunder, attended as the guest of honour. Smt. P. Chandravathi, Zilla Parishad Member, Mayabunder, Shri Saw Thomson, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Rampur and Shri Anand Raj, Up-Pradhan, Gram Panchayat attended the function as the special invitees.
