Mock Drill Simulating Earthquake and Tsunami Conducted at Directorate of Industries

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 14: The Directorate of Industries conducted a Mock Drill simulating an Earthquake and Tsunami scenario as part of 2nd Quarter (2025–26) disaster preparedness activities. The drill took place at Directorate Building, Udyog Parisar, Middle Point, Sri Vijaya Puram, and was aimed at evaluating the readiness and response capabilities of staff and associated emergency services.

The exercise commenced with a Table-Top Exercise, where Shri Mohd. Ishaque, Incident Commander, Directorate of Industries, briefed the participants on the objectives, and roles of various stakeholders involved in the mock drill.

At 11 am, the mock drill began with the sounding of an emergency alarm, signaling the onset of a mock earthquake. A distress call was promptly placed to the State Disaster Management Control Room and other emergency response services to initiate coordinated action. The State Disaster Management Control Room then issued an alert on Tsunami warning.

The drill involved the activation of emergency protocols, evacuation procedures and response coordination among various Departments and personnel stationed at Udyog Parisar. The exercise was carried out in a structured and timely manner.

Upon successful completion of all simulated response actions, an ‘All Clear’ message was communicated back to the State Disaster Management Control Room, marking the conclusion of the drill.

This initiative reflects the Directorate’s commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and enhancing inter-agency coordination to ensure swift and effective responses during actual emergencies.
