Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 26: The culminating programme of the Month-Long Monsoon Book Reading Festival 2.0 was held today at the State Library. As part of the event, a Quiz Competition for Classes IX to XII was organized, in which 18 teams from various schools of Sri Vijaya Puram and Wimberlygunj Zone enthusiastically participated. The first position was secured by GSSS Bathubasthi, while VKV Lambaline and Kamraj English Medium School bagged the second and third positions, respectively.
The festival commenced on Sept. 28, featuring a series of engaging competitions held on consecutive Sundays. These included elocution and essay competitions, fancy dress, skit, word building, daily English conversation practice, and a range of fun activities such as treasure hunt, draw your book, speed reading challenge, picture hunt, book relay, and book pitch contest. The entire programme was coordinated by Smt. S Pratheebha, Librarian. Students from both Government and Private Schools participated in all events with great enthusiasm and showcased their talents, emerging victorious in various competitions.
The closing ceremony was graced by Shri Ram Parvesh, Deputy Director of Education (Science), Directorate of Education, as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized that the State Library is the cultural heart of the Centre and highlighted the ongoing process of modernization of the library.
Earlier, Shri Anbarasan, In-Charge, State Library, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the success of the month-long programme, noting that library memberships and readership have been continuously increasing as a result. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Monsoon Book Reading Festival 2.0 as a token of appreciation and motivation. In addition, the winners of Seva Pakhwara were also felicitated during the ceremony. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Suresh J Panicker, Librarian, State Library.
