MP Bishnu Pada Ray Urges Administration to Provide Centralized AC Facilities in all Wards of GB Pant Hospital

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 2: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has expressed deep concern over the inadequate cooling arrangements in the wards of GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair. During his recent visits to the hospital, Shri Ray personally observed that inpatients across various wards are suffering due to extreme heat and insufficient ventilation.

Highlighting the prevailing discomfort, Shri Ray noted that the existing ceiling fans are not adequate to maintain a comfortable temperature, especially during the humid summer months. “Patients are experiencing intense sweating and their bodies become excessively sticky, which not only causes distress but also hampers their healing process,” he stated.

In a letter dated 01.07.2025 addressed to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Shri Ray strongly recommended that centralized air-conditioning systems be installed in all inpatient wards of the hospital. He emphasized that ensuring a cool, hygienic and dignified recovery environment is a fundamental aspect of quality healthcare. In this regard, he urged the Administration to take immediate and appropriate action to upgrade the existing infrastructure in GB Pant Hospital and ensure the wellbeing and comfort of all admitted patients.
