MP Raises Concern to Implement the Directions of Home Ministry for Early Disposal of Pending Applicants for Land Conversion/ Diversion.

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 1: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands in a communication addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands has urged him for immediate steps to be initiated to resolve the long pending applications related to land conversion and diversion that are crucial for development and livelihood across the islands.

He informed the Lt. Governor that he raised this issue with the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble Union Home Minister and in response that, Shri Nityanand Rai, Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs, responded vide DO No. U-14035/16/2025/ANL dated 20th May 2025, stating that the responsibility of taking appropriate action lies with the UT Administration. It was also conveyed that the Ministry of Home Affairs has already directed the A&N Administration to ensure early disposal of all pending land conversion/diversion cases.

“Despite these clear instructions from the MHA, there has been no visible progress on the ground. The standstill continues, leaving applicants and stakeholders in a state of uncertainty, unable to move ahead with their planned development projects, therefore he requested to honour the direction of the Home Ministry in this regard” MP said in his written statement.

He emphasized that swift disposal of these applications is vital for enabling infrastructure development, private investment, housing and other essential services that depend on land approvals.
