National De-worming Day Observed in all School Across the UT

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 9: National De-worming Day was observed in all the schools including Private Schools and Anganwadi centers across the Union Territory yesterday. To mark the event, a state level program was organized by the Directorate of Health Services in association with UT Health Mission and in close coordination with Directorate of Social Welfare & Directorate of Education in the Conference Hall of Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram with the aim to cover children between the age of 01 to 19 years through schools and Anganwadi centers as a fixed day approach.

Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services graced the occasion as chief guest while Deputy Director (Science), Shri Ram Pravesh, Education Department graced the occasion as guest of honour.

In her address, Director of Health Services emphasized on monitoring personal hygiene to prevent worm infestation and need for the students, teachers and the parents to understand the importance of this programme. Deputy Director (Science) and Smti Zareena Bibi (PO, ICDS) expressed their views about the importance of this day. During the program, Dr Sunil Kumar, Joint Secretary (RCH-II) In-Charge, delivered the keynote address.

Children were administered Albendazole tablet by the guests to mark the start of the program. The program was attended by Programme Officers of DHS, Medical Officers of RBSK Team, Health Educators, ANMs, AWWs, Mukhya Sevika, Teachers and students of Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School.
