Sri Vijaya Puram, June 3: As part of the Nationwide Pre-Kharif campaign “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan”, launched on 29th May, 2025 the initiative is being actively implemented across all zones of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The campaign, aimed at empowering the farming community, is successfully raising awareness about various Government of India agricultural schemes and introducing modern farming technologies to enhance productivity and sustainability in the agriculture sector.
In the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the campaign is being jointly executed by departmental officials, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and other concerned stakeholders. Enthusiastic participation has been reported from farmers across the Islands, with the campaign activities reaching rural and remote areas as well.
By the 4th day of the campaign yesterday, a significant number of awareness programs like awareness camps, Demonstrations, Door to Door field visit, sports events, evening campaigns at village chaupals have been conducted and a large number of farmers have attended these sessions throughout the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
In a commendable effort to reach farmers in remote and inaccessible areas, campaign activities are being carried out even in the Nancowrie group of Islands, with officials travelling by boats to ensure no farmer is left behind. Farmers in these remote locations have shown enthusiastic participation in the awareness programmes, reflecting strong community engagement and growing interest in sustainable agricultural practices promoted under the campaign.
Each flagged-off Krishi Rath is traversing through rural and remote areas, conducting a series of outreach activities, including awareness sessions for farmers. The Krishi Raths are well-equipped with informative banners and audio systems that broadcast messages about various Government schemes and best agricultural practices, ensuring effective communication even in the most interior regions. This initiative is playing a crucial role in enhancing farmer awareness and participation under the “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Vihar” campaign.
As part of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), a total of 42 awareness camps were conducted across the Islands, with active participation from 3,239 farmers in various awareness programmes organized under the initiative and in line with the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, 14 fruit bearing saplings were planted during the Abhiyan.
The programme will continue in various phases across blocks and villages, up to 12th June, 2025 ensuring that every farmer gains access to relevant information and support systems for holistic agricultural development.
