Mayabunder, Sept. 18: The North & Middle Andaman District Police carried out a series of coordinated raids across Kadamtala Bazar, Uttara, Shantanu and adjoining areas to curb the menace of illicit liquor and illegal wildlife meat on Sept. 14. The operation was jointly executed by police teams under the supervision of SDPO Rangat. Acting on reliable intelligence, raids were conducted at Mondal Restaurant and Bengali Restaurant, Kadamtala. The operation led to the recovery of suspected wild boar meat weighing approx. 10 kg and suspected cooked venison weighing approx. 09 kg (including utensil weight). The seized wildlife articles were taken into custody and handed over to the Forest dept. under Section 50(1)(c) of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, for further action as per law.
On the same day, police teams conducted multiple raids against illicit liquor across Kadamtala Bazar, Uttara, Shantanu and nearby areas. These operations resulted in the seizure of 54 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) of various brands and 9 bottles of beer, leading to the registration of five (5) FIRs under Excise Regulation. All recoveries were sealed on the spot, videographed, and seizure memos prepared in the presence of witnesses.
