Mayabunder, Aug 24: North & Middle Andaman District Police continues its sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking and ensure a safe and drug-free environment across the district.
As of August 2026, a total of 13 cases under the NDPS Act have been registered across N&MA District, resulting in the apprehension of 13 accused persons and seizure of approximately 6.2 kg of suspected Ganja, 06 cannabis plants, 2.7 grams of Methamphetamine and 5 grams of Heroin. Investigation into these cases is underway to identify and unearth the wider network, linkages and supply chains associated with the arrested accused persons.
As part of effective prosecution and follow-up action, 05 accused persons have so far been convicted by the Hon’ble Courts in ongoing NDPS cases, with sentences of imprisonment and a total fine of ₹26,000/-.
N&MA District Police remains committed to combating drug trafficking through round-the-clock patrolling, surveillance and strict vigil across the district, with a firm resolve to keep N&MA drug-free.
