One Stop Centre Organises Awareness Session on Cyber Security Threats and Cyber Laws

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 16: The One Stop Centre under the Directorate of Social Welfare organized an awareness session on Cyber Security Threats and Cyber Laws with the objective of enhancing understanding of common cyber security threats. The session was held at the Directorate of Education.

Smti. Rukhsar Rahim, Para Legal Lawyer, One Stop Centre, welcomed the gathering. The Resource Person, Shri Hari Krishna, SI, CID Branch, emphasized the importance of cyber security solutions, highlighting that the growing number and sophistication of cyber threats directly target users, and that many cyber incidents occur due to a lack of security awareness. He elaborated on common forms of cybercrimes such as email scams, social media fraud, banking fraud, e-commerce fraud, data breaches, lottery scams, QR code fraud, online job scams, bank link-share scams, and investment fraud.

Additionally, he addressed challenges and threats in cyber security, advising participants not to open suspicious emails from unrecognized senders, avoid clicking on suspicious links or sensitive information in response to dubious communications.

During the session, the Resource Person shared the helpline number for Cybercrime complaints – 1930. Smti. Meenal Rajan, Case Worker, One Stop Centre, briefed the participants on the objectives of the One Stop Centre, which provides integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence in both private and public spaces.
