Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 14: The online reservation facility for ship tickets through the STARS e-Ticketing System by the Directorate of Shipping Services will now be available 24 x 7, providing greater convenience and flexibility of booking tickets any time to passengers. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, launched the online ship ticket reservation facility 24 x 7 in a brief function held in the Conference Hall of Secretariat today in the presence of Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Shipping), Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS; Secretary (Shipping), Ms. Purva Garg, IAS and Director of Shipping Services, Cdr. Vijay Kumar.
Earlier, the online reservation services were available from 9 AM to 4 PM in line with the operational hours of the STARS Ticketing Counters. With this latest enhancement, passengers can now book ship tickets at any time of the day or night, from the comfort of their homes or offices, without any restrictions.
The facility is available on the Directorate’s official portal https://dss.andamannicobar.gov.in/eticketing, where users can access services such as ticket booking, ship schedules, fare details, and route information. A QR code linking directly to the portal has also been provided for user convenience.
This initiative marks yet another step in the Directorate’s commitment to delivering efficient, citizen-friendly, and technology-driven services, in line with the Government’s Digital India mission. The 24 x 7 availability of the online reservation system is expected to greatly reduce dependence on physical booking counters and further enhance the travel experience for passengers.
The project has been undertaken by the team from CRIS (Center for Railway Information Systems) headed by Ms. V.K. Nazeera Siddique, Senior Project Engineer, CRIS, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The Directorate of Shipping Services continues to strive towards providing safe, reliable, and convenient maritime transport for the residents and visitors of the A&N Islands.
