Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 13: The Department of Sports, A&N Administration conducted Men & Women Open Table Tennis Knockout Tournament on Oct. 11 & 12 at the Multipurpose Hall, Netaji Stadium. The main objective of this tournament is to keep the youth away from drugs and encourage them to participate in Sports. Inaugurating the tournament, as the chief guest Shri Gyan Sheel Dubey, Head of Office, Directorate of Education encouraged the youth to participate in sports and also promised that the Department of Sports will continue to organize such events in future.
In the final match of women’s category, the duo of Rashmi & Sherin defeated Deepanjali & Runa by 7-11, 12-10, 11-13, 11-17, 5-11, 11-7, 8-11 while in the men’s category, Surya and Tabrez defeated Deepak & Alok by 11-7,11-18, 7-11, 11-19, 11-8.
On this occasion, Shri. Mohd. Irshad Ahmed, Assistant Director (PE/Sports), Dte. of Edn. as chief guest distributed the medal to winner & runner-up teams.
