Swaraj Dweep, Jan. 25: Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary, AH&VS, A&N Administration, visited Swaraj Dweep today to review key livestock development infrastructure and frontline veterinary service delivery on the island.
During the visit, the Secretary inspected the Hatchery Unit, examined its operational procedures and biosecurity protocols, and supervised the distribution of newly hatched chicks to progressive farmers. This activity is part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to promote backyard poultry farming and support rural livelihoods.
The Secretary also visited the Veterinary Dispensary and Sub-Dispensary Unit, where she assessed infrastructure readiness, availability of medicines and vaccines, and the overall effectiveness of veterinary services being provided to livestock owners. She interacted with field veterinarians and farmers during both visits.
The inspections were aimed at ensuring high standards of animal health service delivery and operational efficiency in remote island locations.
