
Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 20: A Pashu Sakhi programme was organized at Indranagar, Humfrygunj Gram Panchayat by the Block Development Office, Ferrargunj for members of Self Help Groups (SHGs). The programme was organized by Smti. Lalita Tigga, Block Development Officer, Ferrargunj, and witnessed active participation from 50 farmers of the area. The event aimed at creating awareness among SHG members and farmers on animal husbandry practices, livestock management, and the role of Pashu Sakhi in strengthening rural livelihoods.
The programme was graced by the presence of Senior Veterinary Doctor, Dr. Ninad S. Lawhale, who interacted with the participants and shared valuable insights on scientific animal rearing, disease prevention, and improved breeding practices. The Pradhan, Humfrygunj Gram Panchayat, Shri Palani Kumar was also present on the occasion and encouraged the participants to adopt improved livestock practices.
During the programme, the ‘best breed of cow was felicitated as a mark of appreciation and to motivate farmers towards quality livestock rearing. The programme further highlighted the important role of SHG-led Pashu Sakhis in last-mile delivery of veterinary services, thereby enhancing income generation opportunities for rural women. Informational guidance was also provided on Government schemes related to animal husbandry and dairy development.
The programme concluded on a positive note with active interaction from the participants, reaffirming the commitment of the Block Development Office, Ferrargunj towards empowerment of SHGs and promotion of sustainable rural livelihoods.
