Sri Vijaya Puram, March 13: The District Hospital (Phase–I) at Garacharma, South Andaman, was inaugurated on Jan. 3, 2026. With this development, the existing Primary Health Centre, Garacharma has been upgraded to deliver enhanced healthcare services with a capacity of 35 beds. The hospital now offers a series of Health & Wellness Services, including:
•In-Patient Department (IPD) services including Labour Ward
•Out-Patient Department (OPD) services including Dental OPD
•24×7 Emergency Services
•Homoeopathy OPD
•Antenatal Clinic (ANC)
•ENT OPD and indoor services by ENT Specialist
•Dressing Room
•Eye Unit
•Diagnostic Laboratory Services
•TB Unit with diagnostic facilities
•Radiology Services with X-ray
•Pharmacy Services
•Dental Unit
•Yoga Services
•Ambulance services equipped with oxygen cylinder
Further, a 10-bedded Dialysis Unit is proposed to be established to provide dialysis facilities for patients suffering from chronic kidney disease. This will significantly strengthen renal care services for the residents of South Andaman.
The hospital infrastructure will be further expanded with the completion of the Phase–II building, enabling the institution to deliver comprehensive secondary healthcare services to the general public.
All residents of Garacharma and adjoining villages have been requested to avail the Health & Wellness facilities at the District Hospital, Garacharma, and benefit from the enhanced medical services now available in the area.
