Sri Vijaya Puram, July 11: K. Balakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member of CPI (M) and Ex-MLA of Tamil Nadu is reaching Port Blair on 12th July, 2025 by flight from Chennai. On arrival at the Port Blair Airport, he will be given a warm welcome by Party leaders and workers.
He was Secretary of the CPI (M) Tamil Nadu State Committee from 2018 to 2024. In the 24th Party Congress of CPI (M) held in April, 2025, in Madurai, K. Balakrishnan was elected as a Polit Bureau Member of the Party. He was elected as MLA A from Chidambaram constituency in 2011.
A graduate from the Annamali University, K. Balakrishnan was the first President of SFI Tamil Nadu State Committee. He was forced to live “underground” during Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi.
He had led a number of struggles in Tamil Nadu for the oppressed classes and was arrested and jailed for a number of times for participating in people’s movement in the State.
