Sri Vijaya Puram, May 8: A special meeting of all the elected members of the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman was convened on 08th May 2025 at 1000 Hrs in the Conference Hall of the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman for the purpose of electing the Adhyaksh and Up-Adhyaksh for the fourth-year term of the current tenure (2022–2027).
The meeting was presided over by Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman.
During the proceedings, Shri Prakash Adhikari, Zilla Parishad Member from Guptapara Constituency of the Bharatiya Janata Party was elected as the new Adhyaksh of the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman. Similarly, Shri Boominathan, Zilla Parishad Member from Beodnabad Constituency of the Bharatiya Janata Party was elected as the new Up-Adhyaksh of the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman.
The election was conducted smoothly with the active participation of all 18 elected members of the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman each exercising their voting rights in accordance with the prescribed norms.
Following the successful completion of the election, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, handed over the Certificates of Election to the newly elected Adhyaksh and Up-Adhyaksh, formally recognizing their appointment.
The Oath of Office for the Adhyaksh and Up-Adhyaksh will be administered on 11th May 2025 at 1500 Hrs in the Conference Hall of the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman.
