PS Mayabunder Foils Wildlife Meat Smuggling, Seizes Wild Boar Meat

Mayabunder, Aug 18: On 17/08/2025, acting on a credible tip-off regarding illegal transportation of wildlife meat, a team of PS Mayabunder comprising Insp. Abdul Sajid, SHO PS Mayabunder, Insp. Gracefield, and PCs S.N. Pathak, Aurangzeb Ahmed & M. Samsudeen conducted a swift raid on an STS bus plying from Chainpur to Tugapur.

During the operation, the team intercepted a suspect namely Babu Sindhav Halder, 40 yrs, Fisherman, R/o Chainpur carrying a bag containing approximately 09 kg of wild boar meat packed in polythene packets. On being questioned, the individual admitted that it was wild boar meat but failed to produce any valid explanation or permit for its possession.

Following due procedure, the accused was detained under the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. The seized meat, along with the accused was later handed over to the Forest Department for further necessary legal action.

This successful interception highlights the firm commitment of the North & Middle Andaman Police towards curbing poaching activities and safeguarding the fragile wildlife ecosystem of the islands.
