Ograbraj, Oct. 16: In a remarkable display of investigative skill and dedication, the team of Police Station Ograbraj successfully detected and solved a blind theft case within eleven days and recovered stolen gold ornaments valued over ₹4 lakh.
On 02nd October 2025 Shri B. Gurumurthy R/o Namunaghar came to Police Station Ograbraj and informed that when he returned home from a religious function, found that the main door lock of his house was broken and a small bag containing gold and silver ornaments were stolen. The stolen articles included several gold earrings, a chain, finger ring, ear chain (matti).
Upon this, a special team led by Inspr. Stalin NS, SHO PS Ograbraj alongwith ASI P. Vinodh (I.O), HCs S. Yamant Rao, Ashok Roy & Nelson and PCs Rajdhari Yadav, Abubacker Sidique, Rohan Lall, V.M. Shahid, Shahir, Sunita and Richa Chand was constituted to trace out accused and stolen articles.
The team carried out extensive field enquiries, verified habitual offenders and tapped local intelligence sources. The relentless efforts of the team paid off when they found a suspect, who was seen near the complainant’s house at the time of theft.
Acting swiftly, the team apprehended the suspect from Junglighat on 13th October 2025. During interrogation, accused voluntarily confessed to committing the crime, stating that he broke the door lock with a stone, stole the ornaments and later pledged them at Muthoot Fincorp, Junglighat for ₹2,56,000/-. Following the accused’s confession, the police team visited Muthoot Fincorp and successfully recovered all the pledged gold ornaments, which included three pairs of earrings, one gold chain, one pair of matti and one gold ring.
The seized properties were taken into custody in the presence of independent witnesses, adhering to all codal formalities. Later on, accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court on 14th October 2025 and from there he was remanded for 14 days of judicial custody.
The entire operation was conducted under the leadership of Inspr. Stalin N S, SHO PS Ograbraj under the command of Shri. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat.
