Public Grievances Hearing Camp Organized at Wandoor Panchayat

Wandoor, March 8: A Public Grievances Hearing Camp was organized on 08.03.2026 at 10:00 AM at the Community Hall of Wandoor Gram Panchayat for the residents of Wandoor, Humfrygunj and Guptapara Gram Panchayats. The camp was conducted in the presence of Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, and Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, along with Shri Prakash Adhikari, Adhyaksh, South Andaman Zilla Parishad, Smt. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman, Shri Kamaleshwar Rao, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman, Smt. Priyanka Kumari, Additional District Magistrate, South Andaman, the Chief Engineer, APWD, Directors of various departments, and the Pradhans, Panchayat Samiti Members and Ward Members of Wandoor, Humfrygunj and Guptapara Panchayats.

The camp provided an opportunity for local residents to directly place their grievances and concerns before the Administration.

Earlier in the morning, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, a Yoga programme was organized by the District Health Society at the same venue to promote health and wellness among the community. The programme witnessed good participation from villagers and local representatives. The Pradhan, district-level officers, Medical Officer In-Charge and staff of PHC Manglutan also participated in the Yoga session.

During the grievances camp, the issues raised by the villagers were heard by the officials. The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, noted that most of the issues were related to revenue, water supply, roads, forest matters and electricity. She directed the Tehsildar, along with the Forest Ranger, JE (APWD), JE (Electricity) and JE (PRI), to conduct spot inspections of the locations related to the grievances raised and submit a report within two days so that necessary action can be taken and the concerned parties informed accordingly.

Prior to the camp, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, visited the Sub-Centre at Wandoor and observed that the approach to the Sub-Centre was not easily accessible for patients, particularly pregnant women. She requested the Chief Engineer, APWD, to explore the possibility of constructing a proper approach road so that patients can easily reach the Sub-Centre.

The camp witnessed active participation from villagers of Wandoor, Humfrygunj and Guptapara Gram Panchayats and served as an important platform for strengthening communication between the Administration and the public.

The Public Grievances Hearing Camp forms part of the continuing efforts of the District Administration to reach out to the public and address their concerns at the grassroots level. While a similar camp was organized yesterday for Sippighat and Calicut Gram Panchayats, today’s camp was conducted for the residents of Wandoor, Humfrygunj and Guptapara Gram Panchayats.
