Diglipur, Jan 2: The Pradhan, Ramnagar Gram Panchayat, Shri Mithun Das has raised concerns on the Directorate of Shipping Services’ STARS E-Ticketing Portal, requesting the Shipping Secretary to make it user friendly.
In a letter to the Secretary Shipping, A&N Administration, Das drew the attention of the Secretary towards a practical difficulty being faced by the general public while booking tickets through the DSS STARS e-ticketing portal. He said, at present, the portal provides payment options such as Internet Banking, Debit Card, and Credit Card. However, it is observed that when the Debit Card option is selected, the transaction process ends abruptly without completion, making the option practically non-functional. Only Internet Banking transactions are currently working smoothly.
Considering the heavy public dependence on DSS services for inter-island travel, the absence of a reliable Debit Card facility and the non-availability of UPI payment is causing inconvenience, repeated failed attempts, and unnecessary stress to passengers. Integrating UPI payment (such as BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe, etc.) and rectifying the Debit Card payment issue would greatly enhance user experience, reduce booking failures, and align the portal with the present Digital India ecosystem, he mentioned.
The Pradhan has thus requested for immediate rectification of the Debit Card payment failure issue, and for introduction of UPI as a payment option on the DSS STARS e-ticketing portal.
