Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 24: In a significant step towards strengthening connectivity and promoting inclusive development, the Andaman & Nicobar Administration has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) under RCS–UDAN 6.0.
The initiative will promote affordable air connectivity between the Islands through seaplanes and small fixed-wing aircraft, giving a fresh impetus to tourism, trade, employment, healthcare and education across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Key Features of Modified UDAN
•VGF support to airline operators for up to 5 years.
•90% Central VGF and 10% UT contribution.
•Support from AAI for Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of airports and water aerodromes.
•1% VAT on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) by the UT Administration.
•UT support for firefighting, security, utilities and other essential infrastructure.
Through this initiative, the Andaman & Nicobar Administration is taking forward its commitment to strengthening regional connectivity and creating new opportunities for the people of the Islands. Together, we are moving towards building a more inclusive, connected and developed Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
