Relentless Crackdown on Drug Trafficking Continues by Anti-Narcotics Police Station; 2.033 Kgs of Ganja Seized, Accused Arrested

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 8: In its relentless crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics-related activities in the Islands, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station achieved another major success by seizing 2.030 Kg of illicit ganja and arresting one accused person during a special operation conducted on 07.05.2026 near the exit gate opposite the old terminal building of VSI Airport, Sri Vijaya Puram.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a dedicated police team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, led by Inspector K. Binoj, SHO, Anti-Narcotics Police Station, carried out the operation. The team included HC/ Laxman Rao, HC(SG)/ Tamil Selcam, PC/ Tulasi Rao, PC/ Basharat Ali and PC/Karuna Kant Pandey. 

During the operation, the team intercepted one Jamiruddin Gazi S/o Late Najbul Gazi (19) yrs, Pvt Labour R/o Gokarnee, South 24 Parganas, Gokarnee, West Bengal-743601, who had arrived at Sri Vijaya Puram from Kolkata on 07.05.2026 via an Indigo Flight. Upon checking his luggage, 2.030 Kg of Ganja was recovered, which has been concealed inside his bag. The contraband was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot after observing all codal formalities under the NDPS Act, 1985. Investigation is in progress to identify the supply chain and apprehend other co-accused persons involved in the case.

The raid was conducted under the supervision of Smt. Suma Madda, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics) and the overall supervision of Shri Rajesh Deo, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (CID), A&N Islands.

This successful operation reflects the continued commitment and vigilance of Andaman & Nicobar Police in curbing drug trafficking and safeguarding the community from the menace of narcotics.
