Mayabunder, July 20: In a continued effort to combat the menace of drug trafficking and ensure a drug-free society, North & Middle Andaman District Police have achieved significant success through two separate anti-narcotics operations conducted on 14th and 15th July, 2025.
On 14/07/2025, during routine patrolling in Shantipur, Ward No. 02, the Police Station Billiground team noticed a suspicious individual attempting to evade police presence. The individual was immediately intercepted and upon checking the bag in his possession, the team recovered approximately 01 Kg of illegal ganja. The accused, identified as Ravi Das (40) years S/o Late Bhagaban Das, resident of Shantipur, Billiground was arrested on the spot. All legal procedures were duly followed and a case under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985 was registered against him.
In an another operation, acting on credible intelligence, Police Station Diglipur carried out a targeted raid in the Laxmipur area on 15/07/2025, which led to the recovery of approx. 100 grams of illicit ganja. Following further leads, a swift and coordinated follow-up raid was conducted in Harinagar, Billiground, resulting in the seizure of an additional approx. 500 grams of ganja. An NDPS case has been registered against the accused Sowrab Das (26) years S/o Shri Sudip Das, Ex-employee of Campbell Engineering, Haddo and resident of Sri Vijaya Puram, Harinagar (RV), Ward No. 05, Billiground.
These successful operations reflect the firm commitment of the North & Middle Andaman District Police to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards drugs and narcotics. The fight against illegal substances continues with full force across the district.
