
Kadamtala, April 26: A mock fire drill was successfully conducted by Fire Station Baratang at ANIIDCO Petrol Pump, Baratang, to assess emergency response, firefighting efficiency, and staff coordination. The scenario involved a fire at the fuel dispenser line during diesel refilling into a 40 KL underground tank. On receiving the call at 0955 hrs, the team responded within a minute and reached the site by 0958 hrs, demonstrating a swift response.
Firefighting was promptly initiated using a delivery hose and foam compound, and the fire was completely extinguished by 1014 hrs. A brief post-drill session covered safety protocols, key learnings, and basic training on first aid and firefighting equipment, emphasizing presence of mind during emergencies.
The drill witnessed participation from staff, management, and the public, enhancing awareness, strengthening preparedness, and reinforcing adherence to safety norms at fuel stations.
