Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 15: In an effort to inculcate the spirit of patriotism, discipline, and unity among school students, the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, GoI, is organizing school band competitions every year across the country.
As part of this nationwide initiative, the State-Level School Band Competition was organized by Samagra Shiksha, UT Mission Authority yesterday at GSSS Boys. The event aimed to select the best school band teams in both Boys and Girls categories to represent the UT at the Southern Zonal Level Band Competition in Telangana, from where teams will be shortlisted for participation at the National Level.
A total of seven teams – three in the Boys’ category and four in the Girls’ category participated in the competition. The performances were evaluated by eminent Band Masters from the Navy, Army, and Police Departments, who assessed the teams on their musical skills, coordination, and discipline.
In the Girls’ Band category, GSSS Girls secured the first position, followed by GSSS Model Sri Vijaya Puram and GSSS School Line, which stood second and third respectively. In the Boys’ Band category, SSS VKV Lamba Line clinched the first position, while GSSS Boys and SSS Nirmala were adjudged second and third respectively.
In his valedictory address, Dr. Jatinder Sohal, Director (Education) in-charge, as the chief guest lauded the students for their dedication and artistry, congratulated the winners, and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence at the forthcoming Southern Zonal and National Level Competitions. He also presented trophies to the winning teams.
Earlier, the competition was inaugurated by Shri Gyansheel Dubey, Head of Office / DDE (Academic), who motivated the participants to perform with enthusiasm and determination to bring laurels to the UT at higher levels.
