Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 16: As part of celebration of the International Day for Preservation of Ozone Layer in a most befitting manner, the Science Centre, Sri Vijaya Puram organized a Painting Competition for school students studying in Class III to V as junior group & VI to VIII as senior group in its Auditorium today. The day is observed to commemorate the Montreal Protocol which was drawn up in September 1987 to safeguard the earth from the harmful effects due to depletion of Ozone Layer, which acts as protective umbrella for all living things in this planet. The theme of this year’s celebration is– ‘From Science to Global Action’.
Various Govt. & Private Schools in and around Sri Vijaya Puram participated in the competition. In junior group- S. Ritika of RGT Public Vidyalaya, R.Diksha of Nirmala Sr. Sec. School, Subhojit of GPS Mazar Pahad and C.Kashni secured first, second, third & consolation prize, respectively whereas in senior group Vaisali Krishnan of RGT Public Vidyalaya, B. Dharsini of Govt. Model. Sr. Sec. School, Vinaya Krishnan of RGT Public Vidyalaya and Edel Baxla of Nirmala Sr. Sec. School secured first, second, third & consolation prize respectively.
