Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 2: The State Child Protection Society (SCPS), Directorate of Social Welfare, organized an Exam Stress Management and Emotional Well-Being session for adolescent girls residing at Pranab Kanya Sangha, a Child Care Institution, during the ongoing examination period. The programme was initiated and facilitated by the Programme Manager, SCPS, with the objective of helping adolescent girls manage examination-related stress and emotional challenges.
During the Session, Programme Manager, SCPS, conducted interactive discussions and guided activities focusing on exam anxiety, fear of failure, emotional expression, and confidence building. She facilitated simple relaxation and stress-management exercises, promoted positive thinking, and shared practical guidance on maintaining a healthy balance between studies, rest, and emotional well-being. The session provided a safe and supportive environment for the girls to openly share their concerns and feel motivated during the examination period.
Nodal Officer, Mission Vatsalya, emphasized the importance of timely psychosocial support and emotional care for children, particularly adolescent girls, during academically stressful phases.
Shri Ravinder Kumar, Director, Social Welfare, reiterated that emotional well-being and mental health support for children in institutional care remain a priority of the department. He further stressed the need to institutionalize such programmes and ensure that similar Exam Stress Management and Emotional Well-Being sessions are conducted regularly across all Child Care Institutions to provide consistent academic and emotional support to children.
In line with this initiative, guidance was also provided on adopting healthy daily practices during examinations, including maintaining adequate sleep, following a regular sleep–wake routine, practicing relaxation before rest, and adhering to structured study schedules. These practices were highlighted as essential measures to enhance concentration, emotional stability, and academic performance.
The programme reflects the continued commitment of the State Child Protection Society, Directorate of Social Welfare, towards strengthening mental health and psychosocial care support services for children residing in Child Care Institutions.
